Driven

Comparing myself to a transmission Lord, I pray You keep it in drive,
So each day I keep advancing, toward the reason I am alive,
For I can't make any progress, if I try to live life in reverse,
But I pray that in the middle of Your will Lord, my soul would be immersed,
And I can't stay in park or neutral, and just let life pass me by,
Because if I'm going to help build God's kingdom, then I can't ever be shy,
For life is not to be lived, by driving down a wide six lane freeway,
It is drawn toward perfection, by traveling the straight and narrow way,
And Lord Your Word, the Bible, is a wonderful guide,
To keep me in Your presence, where I ever want to abide,
I know You will not steer me wrong, in anything I say and do,
Just as I need to watch the road while driving, Lord I will keep my eyes on You.

Running the Human Race

Of everything in my life Lord, may I make You the center,
And in all I do and say, may You be my constant mentor,
This life is way too short, for me to waste one second of it,
For in the puzzle of my being, You make all the pieces fit,
May I resist all the temptations, that the devil throws at me,
Because from all of my old passions Lord, You have set me free,
For not one day ever goes by, that Satan doesn't try to touch my mind,
But in Your presence Lord, it is always peace and hope I find,
Then there is Your promises, and in them I feel secure,
For You Lord show me there is more to it, than just to endure,
I just can't imagine living, outside Your mercy and Your grace,
So I want You beside me Lord, as I run this human race.

Forgive and Forget

Lord in my forgiving, help me forget it too,
For that is one thing that will make me, become more like You,
If I am not forgetting, then I did not forgive,
And I know this is not the way, that you want me to live,
For Lord when You forgave all of my sins, You also forgot,
And Lord as to my past, You had to forget a lot,
I had to get a grip Lord, on who You wanted me to be,
Cause my sins had blinded me so much, that I could not even see,
The path You were laying before me, where You wanted me to go,
But I have arrived at the point, where Your will I'm coming to know,
And though I haven't gotten to the place, that You want me yet,
I am learning more each day Lord, how to forgive and to forget.

His Unconditional Love

What in this world can compare Lord, to Your unconditional love?
For to measure it would be like, trying to count all the stars above,
And the depth and width of all the oceans, cannot even hold,
All the love that You My Savior, pour into my soul,
For it is like a deep deep well, that never will run dry,
If anyone asks why I am different, the love of God is my reply,
And I know You can be seen, in the countenance on my face,
For the presence of Your love, is overwhelming in this place,
It is through my accepting You Lord, that in my heart You now dwell,
And I can always honestly say, that with my soul all is well,
Of all You've given me, it's more than enough, so I will share,
Your love Lord and I will ever, Your name boldly declare.

My Heart's Desire

Lord You give me the desires of my heart, when I delight in You,
So may all the glory and the honor be Yours, in all I say and do,
May nothing that I face in life, cause me to be alarmed,
I will not be angry and I will not fret, because it only causes harm,
For life enters a bad place, if I focus on the wrong things,
But life enters the best place, in looking to Him who makes my heart sing,
And I will not gain anything, if I am full of greed,
But I will receive God's blessings, if on His Word's promises I feed,
So I cannot let one second of my attention, ever stray away,
From the presence of my Savior, whom I love more every day,
For who else has the power, to set my soul on fire?
This is why I seek God's will, my one and only heart's desire.

Even the Least

Lord as to my being a part of Your kingdom, even though I be the least,
I still one day will sit at Your table, and partake of a Heavenly feast,
For I have accepted Jesus as my Savior, and I truly believe,
And the gift of eternal life, I have surely received,
As to the scheming of the devil, all fear of my failing is gone,
For with You Lord by my side, I don't have to walk through this life alone,
I am filled with Your Spirit, full of Your love, joy, and peace,
I will never stop praising You Lord, even though this life should cease,
And I expect to see many miracles, when I call out to You,
For only You have the power, that has made my heart brand new,
So to my God the lone creator, of everything I see,
I will humbly come and worship, thanks so much for thinking of me.

Renewed

Lord I pray that my passion for You, will be daily renewed,
And that everything I say and do, reflects my living for You,
For Lord I always seem to fall short, of what I want to be,
But I know You see my love for You in this heart, that is inside of me,
And my mind sometimes has a tendency, to want to wander away,
So I have to be real diligent, in my seeking Your will each day,
The greatest battle is spiritual, so I have to be constantly aware,
Yet I know the burden will never be more, than I with You can bear,
Of all of life's temptations, help me to stay clear,
And I'll stay on the straight and narrow road, if I let You steer,
Lord You make life more beautiful, and the promise of Heaven a delight,
And as the star guided the wise men, I will be guided by Your light.

Open the Door

I once thought that if I prayed daily, God would forgive that day's sin,
Today I wonder if I wasn't hanging, Jesus back on that cross again,
Now I'm not saying God would ever, run out of grace to give,
But I really wasn't being a very good Christian, by the life I lived,
For I wasn't discipled very much, in my early Christian life,
As a result I lived right on the edge, always dealing with strife,
But I came under some teaching that taught me, how to live right everyday,
And I shouldn't just ask for my forgiveness, every time I pray,
For there are many who need my prayers, it's more than just about me,
I'm thankful that before it was too late, God opened my eyes so I now see,
Now I anxiously look forward to, whatever God has in store,
And I have grown so I'll step out in faith, whenever He opens the next door.

It's a Blast

The weather blossomed like a spring bud, as it warmed up today,
And the grandkids didn't even wear jackets, when they went out to play,
But I remember this is Alabama, so I will not be deceived,
For knowing it is mid February, all of winter has not be received,
And I will not let a groundhog tell me, how the weather is going to be,
Also a meteorologist, can't do much to convince me,
But today I will enjoy the sunshine, with the promise of a tan,
For tomorrow it could be cold and snowing, so I'll enjoy this while I can,
Days like this are wonderful, and puts a little getup in my step,
And I am getting to the age, where I can use the added pep,
Now I will wallow in this beauty, expecting more like it soon will come to pass,
For after shivering for several months, today has been a blast.

Getting Out of the Boat

Lord when I take my eyes off of You, I begin to sink,
Just like Peter walking on the water, things can change in just one blink,
Lord take away my fears, guard every step I take,
For I want You to be involved, in every decision that I make,
Hold me with the hands, that have been nail-scarred,
And all the evil in my past, may I readily discard,
For I would not just give You part of my life, but give You the whole,
So I do Your will not mine, I give You control of all my soul,
Searching Your Word oh so diligently, so I am walking in Your Way,
Staying focused on You so I am strong, to face whatever everyday,
And though my life might be as a vessel, that perfectly floats,
May I be prepared when You call me, to get out of the boat.

More Than Easter Eggs and Bunny Rabbits

I give my heart to the one, who gave His life for me,
And more than once a year, may I remember what He did on that tree,
For there is no greater love, than the love shown on that day,
And it birthed the path to salvation, and there is no other way,
The dirtiest, lowdown, evil sinner, can find forgiveness for all their sins,
For there is none beyond being saved, if they only call on Him,
And we can look to the farthest parts of the earth, and not find one so true,
Then if you search the universe too, you'll find He's always thinking of you,
Just a sample of His glory, is a wonderful, Heavenly taste,
That is why one second of being in His will, I don't need to waste,
So I will leave behind my old sins, and start developing new habits,
Easter is about celebrating Jesus, it's more than eggs and bunny rabbits.

Born on a Cross

How would you feel if you went to mourn, and found an empty grave?
Especially if you thought the deceased, was the one who came to save,
The very first day of the ones, we know as Easter morn,
And it all comes together the reason why, Jesus was really born,
Needing forgiveness for all my sins, such a horrendous amount,
Then His blessings much more than my sins, too many for me to count,
Looking to Jesus as my Savior, for He is the only way,
And I'm thankful for every time, He answers when I pray,
I hope that all learn there is more, than a Christmas and an Easter service,
And to receive eternal salvation, is something no one needs to miss,
We strive as Christians to ever reach out, to all those who are lost,
So they too can know the truth and find, the love born on a cross.

Prospered

How wonderful the feeling, to gather with other believers,
And of all of God's blessings, we truly are favored receivers,
We seek more knowledge, of God's Word and His perfect will,
Then we need to activate that knowledge, to show healing and salvation is real,
So everyday we study, and everyday we take lots of time to pray,
For Jesus is the only one, to guide us in the straight and narrow Way,
And even though we're tempted by the earthly gift the devil brings,
Lord we will reject the offer, and just look to You for everything,
We believe there is never a flaw, in anything You teach,
May we always use every bit of it, this sad lost world to reach,
When I enter into eternity, Lord I'll be with You this I know,
But while in this earthly body, thanks for prospering me wherever I go.

In the Game

It seems sometimes we let a game, take control of our life,
Worrying about winning or losing, our lives get filled with strife,
We hope and even pray, a certain player will come to our school,
Wanting to go to the game instead of church, Satan is making us fools,
If someone says something bad about our team, we really do get mad,
And the amount of money we spend on our team colors, truly is real sad,
Supporting our team isn't all bad, if we don't go overboard,
But to do it more than we love Jesus, is a mistake we can't afford,
So bring your life into focus, as you cheer your team to victory,
Don't let any distraction, keep you from becoming what you're supposed to be,
Just remember that life will always be, more than just a game,
And we should live it to honor Jesus, the name above all names.

Finding Love

It is the time of the year, when love is in my thoughts,
And as many times as I've lost at love, more love is what I've sought,
Sometimes I wonder if maybe, it was just emotion that I shared,
Even though I felt that every time, my very soul I had bared,
But I found that there is more to love, then I ever knew about,
That love is all around me, of that there is no doubt,
For people express a form of love, in many different ways,
Yet I have a need for a constant love, that is with me every day,
Now love shared among us humans is great, but I feel that there is more,
Love throughout eternity, is what I believe is in store,
See I found the true meaning of love, when I focused on things above,
And accepted Jesus as my Savior, and found He is the creator of real love.

The Holiday of Love

In this time of the holiday of love, I remember when I first met you,
And I knew it was something special, to me it was something new,
Of all my previous relationships, there is none to compare,
To the one that is now ours, and that we will ever share,
And if I could find the words to describe it, then I surely would,
For I want to give you the sun, moon, and stars, if only I could,
Sometimes I wonder why someone so wonderful, has been given to me,
I don't doubt it is God's will, so we can become what He wants us to be,
And I will be forever thankful, for this miracle He has done,
Because it truly is miraculous, His making of our two hearts into one,
As much as I love you, and look forward to all our life has in store,
I will not fall short in reminding you, that God loves you even more.
